Apocalypse | 005 | Greetings from the Authors of Revelation

The book of Revelation is about God revealing secrets to His servants the prophets, written by John the disciple, and sent to seven churches that were in Asia Minor during his time. After the opening statements from verses 1 to 3, the authors of the book now introduce themselves and greet their readers.

"Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen." (Revelation 1:4-6)

1. The Father
   Him which is, and which was, and which is to come was seen by John sitting on a throne before which were seven Spirits. This is none other than God, the Father of Jesus Christ, the originator of the book of Revelation, which he then gave to Jesus to show unto His servants things which must shortly come to pass. (Revelation 1:1)
   
   
2. Holy Spirit
   Before the throne of God were seven Spirits, from which also comes the greetings of Grace and Peace. The seven spirits take the form of "...seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God..." (Revelation 4:5) Later in the book the seven Spirits were "...sent forth into all the earth..." by Jesus Christ, the Lamb. (Revelation 5:6)
   
   
3. The Son
   The book was very clear on who this was, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, whose blood made us "...kings and priests unto God and his Father..." (Revelation 1:6)

When you study the book of Revelation, you receive personal greetings from the three persons of the God family, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. What an honor and blessing it is, to be personally greeted by the sovereign of the universe!
