Apocalypse | 006 | A Promise of Resurrection

Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. (Revelation 1:7)

In our previous studies, we looked at how the book of Revelation, even though it was given by God the Father, is centred on Jesus Christ. We looked at the authorities behind the book - The Father, The Seven Spirits of God, and Jesus Christ Himself.

The verse above depicts the second coming of Jesus Christ and fulfils one of the profound prophecies made by Jesus Christ while He was on Earth. On the night of His arrest, the high priest posed a question, "I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God." Jesus replied, "Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven." (Matthew 24:63-64)

Those who "pierced" Jesus were all the people who were involved in His death on the cross, starting from the instigators, the false witnesses, the people who shouted, "Crucify him!", all the authorities consenting to his punishment, etc. Jesus made a promise that they will be alive to witness His second coming.

But all these people are dead! The only possible way is to resurrect them to see Jesus coming amongst the clouds. The Bible does say that surely, they will be resurrected at the end of time.

In his prophecy of the second coming of Jesus, Paul writes, "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words." (1 Corinthians 4:16-18) Here we don't see any wicked person being resurrected, but if we look at other prophecies of the second coming, we'll see it.

Daniel, in his prophecy of the second coming, says that "...at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt." (Daniel 12:1-2)

Please note that he says "they that sleep in the dust of the earth" meaning all the dead, "some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt." There it is! At the second coming of Jesus (Michael), the people who were responsible for His death on the cross will be resurrected to fulfil the promise that Jesus made to them on the night of His arrest.

Jesus is the Man of His Word. I hope that gives us hope to depend on His promises. Until our next post, God be with you.

  1. Daniel Never prophesied anything about our day. He was speaking about when Yahusha was crucified and resurrected. What he was speaking about was that after Christ resurrected, the Jews started waking up to the reality that he was God. Some to everlasting life and some who used it for their own gain to everlasting damnation. This whole premise has been taken out of context to speak about something that will never happen. 1Thessalonians 4: 13-18 is about the order of the Resurrection. Christ first, the first-fruits, next (Now the 144,000) and the rest after the Millennium. When I was birthed as the Man-Child I was caught up unto Yehovah and unto his throne, where he told me who I was, who he was and what he expected of me. I was before him off and on for three months (or one season). Ascending and descending upon the ladder that extends to heaven that Jacob saw in his dream. (He saw the Sons of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man (him). This is the same "caught up" in 1Th 4:17 Then we who remain alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to a meeting with the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord. Once this happens you have a heavenly connection that will never be broken. The truth is that unless you have had the breath of Yehovah breathed into you, you are dead just like the animals and upon death your corpse goes into the ground and are no more. But the Spirits of just men made perfect returns back to the Lord who gave it to reside in Paradise until the Resurrection, when everyone comes back to earth when Yahusha physically returns at the end of the Millennium. He will bring all of heaven with him when he does. In the meantime, we his 144,000 will reign in the earth for 1,000 years of peace. After the harvest of the wicked, the destruction of them all, and the entire worldly system melts with a fervent heat. We will rule in the seat of Christ, using his authority to rule with a rod of iron. And will restore the entire creation from its bondage to decay and corruption.
